yamaha rxs 100 problem?
my rxs 100 starts and runs but is very spluttery and cuts out and then refuses to start again it also backfires from time to time. take the plug out and give it a clean and it will start and run again the exhaust is pretty smokey is there any adjustment to the oil pump other than the cable? any other ideas will be welcome
The adjustment on the oil pump cable should be adequate to give the correct setting. Have you checked that the oil pump opens the correct amount at full throttle? Worst case scenario is that the crankshaft end seals have gone and the engine is sucking in and burning gearbox oil. Does the gearbox oil level drop? What does the smoke smell of, two stroke oil, or gearbox oil? Best case scenario is that the smoke is normal and ok for a two stroke, and the cutting out is caused by a blocked petrol tank cap breather. Good luck with it!!!
