What is a bicycle wheel block?
I have been given an assignment for school which involves the manufacture of a bicycle wheel block. I am unsure what a bicycle wheel block actually is and would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. The component are the wheel blocks of a bicycle which is the sub-assembly of the handlebars.

HARNESSING OF EDDY CURRENTS IN MAINTAINING BICYCLE SPEED

Significance of electric eddy currents was first observed by Gambay in the year l824.But Arago shown that the relative motion of a disc in the field of magnet causes a special electric current called as Eddy Currents in the disc opposing the relative motion which creats a magnetic drag in accordance with the Lenz's law of electromagnetic induction.Later on,Faraday observed that an electromotive force exists between the rotating rim and the axle of a cycle if placed in a magnetic field.Further,Focault in the year l895 discovered that energy of a rotating metal in a magnetic field dissipates in form of heat due to production of eddy curents in the metal.
Several researchers have already suggested several useful applications of the eddy currents, but the present attempt is to harness the magnetic drag created due to it in maintaining the speed of a bicycle even after having so many hindrences in the way.
In it, each wheel of a bicycle is accompanied adjascently by a free running independent fly-wheel which is made up of such paramagnetic materials like aluminium,copper, brass,etc.to allow maximum lines of magnetic forces across it without any deviation.Further,a circular disc of same matterial and diameter is also attached to the each wheel of the bicycle.Now, several magnets are aligned in this circular disc in such a fashion that maximum eddy currents can be produced in its adjascent fly wheel.This is totally an adjustable mechnical arrangement.
Now,as soon as, the bicycle is moved by its rider its wheels start rotating which in turn ignites the rotation of the adjascent fly-wheels.The ignition of the rotation of fly-wheels is obviously due to magnetic drag created by eddy currents produced in it.The rotating fly-wheels thus conserve the kinetic energy in form of rotational inertia in pace with the speed of the bicycle.Now ,if there appears a break in the motion of the bicycle owing to any hindrence in the way ,the speed reduces. But,as soon as, the rider intends to gain the same speed as earlier by paddling it , rotating fly-wheels immediately helps in his effort by transferring the conserved kinetic energy to it and the earlier speed is fastly gained without much effort which was lost in the break.The total action follows due to the magnetic drag acting between the fly-wheels and the main wheels.
Thus , by use of the magnetic drag created by the eddy currents the speed of the bicycle is regained without much effort ,and,therefore,the rider can go for miles tirelessly. This is actually one of the best harnessings of the magnetic drag of eddy currents.
